A throught provoking look at yourself from within. Images of perfection are everywhere: TV, the internet, magazines, not to mention our fantasies and dreams of being someone we are not. This is a reminder to all of us that we don’t need to be perfect to be successful and happy. We will look at the art of being disorganized, silly, wrong and neither rich or famous.

About the Speaker
Grace Kirkwood is a life-long entrepreneur as an event planner, artist, photographer and speaker. In developing her partnerships with other women, each also in transition of making the “shift” to follow her one true self, Grace helps women promote their true life passions through gatherings, seminars and conferences such as the BIL / JIL unConference.

About the Talk
This talk will address our need to find balance amongst the ever increasing desire to be constantly connected to our highly addictive shiny technology thingies. I will discuss how to find time in the day to meditate, bring up some breathing techniques, and propose how the simplicity of tea drinking can help us achieve mindfulness. I’ll also be touching upon some of the mental and physical disorders technologists suffer from, and what common sense wisdom we can all conjure to overcome them.

Mighty Leaf Tea has sponsored this talk and will supply attendees with free tea samplers, and I will provide as much hot water and cups as I can carry.

About the Speaker
Natalie Villalobos is a self proclaimed “teaist” who has explored numerous cultures and their ceremonies around tea. She consults for tea companies in the Bay Area where she provides consumer insights and adoption trends of tea culture through social media and technology. Her meditation focus is founded on Non-Violent Communication, Zazen, Native American principles, and the gift of a good hug. You can find her meditating and meeting strangers at Om Shan Tea Teahouse, Samovar Tea Lounge, and the Imperial Tea Court in San Francisco.

She works full-time at Google as the Community Manager for Sidewiki – a product that allows users to annotate any webpage on the internet.

You can find out more about Natalie’s feats and discoveries at natalievillalobos.com and on Twitter as @nataliaenvy.

About the Speaker
Jaqueline Marie attended the Royal Opera Conservatory of Brussels, Belgium and toured as a leading first soprano. Although her natural gifts as a vocalist were received with great enthusiasm, Jaqueline found her self longing for the simple, profound connection with Divinity she had discovered while vocalizing and toning as a young girl. Thus inspired, she returned to California and began training as a body worker and sound healer. Combining her angelic voice with the celestial tones of the crystal bowls, Jaqueline Marie is quickly becoming one of the most sought after Sound Healers in the Southern California area for her healing workshops and transformational performances.

About the Talk
Did you know that according to a 2004 Global Study on Women, Beauty and Well-Being, over 50% of women say their body disgusts them? It is also interesting to note that after viewing images of female fashion models, seven out of ten women felt more depressed and angry than prior to viewing the images. (Source: Psychology Today)

Studies have also shown that low self-esteem “is a social epidemic that leads to introversion, a withdrawal from normal life and a waste of potential.”

I’m Sierra Sullivan, founder of The RAY and we’re on a mission to transform the way women feel about themselves. Through various media platforms in the areas of print, web, social networking, and live events we deliver inspirational and educational content aimed to raise women’s self esteem and elevate them to live their highest potential.

We believe it’s time to transform the inadequate concept of beauty that current media promotes while healing the consequent negative relationship women have to themselves.

About the Speaker
Born into a family of 4 daughters, Sierra learned early on, the importance of sisterhood. After the untimely death of her mother, Sierra found herself on an accelerated spiritual path towards a conscious and holistic lifestyle. Living in the image driven city of Los Angeles brought Sierra to a deeper awareness of her struggles with self-esteem and self-acceptance. After much introspection, she resolved to change the idealistic perception of women by creating a magazine that dealt with women’s issues from a real and empowering perspective.

Seven productive and insightful years later, The RAY has become a multi-faceted organization fueled by a mission to revolutionize media for women. The RAY is a personal development company focused on the message of self-love. On a mission to transform the way women feel about themselves, we provide virtual and physical space for women to connect with an influential and conscious community. We offer our readers and clients inspiration and encouragement to live more authentic and empowered lives through our uplifting publications, empowering events, coaching services and conscious community connections.
