About the Talk
Computer vision is a cluster of developing technologies that will enable computers to do some of the very difficult tasks (eg recognizing objects and faces, walking around a room without bumping into things etc) that our advanced brains do effortlessly. I will present a broad survey of computer vision technologies and applications, both present and future.

I’ve been noticing more and more computer vision making it into tech. For instance my camera can recognize and automatically focus on faces in pictures, which is really useful.
Of all the computer technologies it’s the easiest for a lay person to understand, because the algorithms have a visual output. I took a course on scientific computation which did more for my understanding of mathematics than all my math courses.
I think computer vision should be taught to younger kids, it’s a lot of fun to play with the algorithms! #BIL10
